Why Quality Beats Quantity in Job Applications
Hey, I get it.
When you’re out of work, your whole focus is on getting a job.
So you think:
The more applications I send, the better my chances, right?
Unfortunately, not really.
That’s a false economy.
There’s nothing wrong with sending a lot of applications if you keep the quality high.
The problem comes when you send half-arsed applications.
You limit your chances of success.
You waste time applying for roles you’re not really a great fit for.
The rejections pile up, and it starts to hurt.
You’re only human. Negative feedback stings.
You might think:
I need a job, so I’d better cover all bases.
Again, that’s not always the best approach.
Here’s what I recommend:
Look for roles where you’re a great fit.
There are plenty out there.
Then go all in.
Tailor your CV.
Write a cover letter.
Record a quick Loom introduction.
Reach out to the hiring manager to connect.
Do whatever it takes to get your CV noticed.
When you’re a strong fit, hiring managers appreciate the effort.
Being proactive can make all the difference.
And when you do this, you’re much more likely to get an interview.
Don’t burn yourself out on quantity.
Focus your energy on quality instead.
