Redundancy: What Now?
Redundancy hits hard.
Even when you’ve seen it coming.
Even if you’ve been through it before.
Even if you’re really good at what you do.
And that’s the first thing to remember:
It’s the job that’s been made redundant, not you.
Your experience, skills, and talent are still right there.
So, take a breath.
Give yourself a moment.
Go for a long walk.
Speak to your people.
Feel the feelings.
It’s OK to be annoyed, frustrated, or even relieved.
There’s no ‘right’ reaction, just yours.
But when you’re ready… It’s time to dust yourself off.
This is a chance to rethink where you want to go next.
Do you want to stay in the same kind of role?
Are you ready for something bigger, smaller, or just different?
Could an interim or consultancy project work for you for a bit?
Redundancy isn’t the end of the road, it’s a nudge onto a new path.
And yes, it can feel like a giant pain.
But it can also be the push you didn’t know you needed.
If you’re not sure where to start, I’ve written a short, practical eBook.
It’s a simple guide to getting back on track after redundancy.
